“Papers! Papers! Papers!”
What?!?!
Well, it’s an obscure reference from the opera “The Consul” by Menotti. Bet you didn’t know I used to be an opera singer did you? My undergraduate degree just happens to be a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Baylor University. Seriously? Go figure! Although singing is now my avocation rather than my vocation, singing is still very much a part of who I am. People who remember me from the 20-ish years I lived in CR (both before and briefly after college) know me as a singer/dancer. Just ask JLCR member Lindsay Prince. She’ll give you an ear full—TCR roles, numerous Follies productions, “A Chorus Line” at Coe, etc. So, I am more than meets the eye, ladies! And aren’t we all?
And it is with that thought that I decided to really mix up Education & Training this year…to take advantage of the skills, training, background, hobbies, and passions of our members—both actives and sustainers. We are incredible women with incredible knowledge to share—personally, professionally, and via our League experience. “For You, By You” is the theme of E&T this year—wonderfully led by Chair Megan Murray. Megan embraced my idea of a new day for E&T and ran with it. She took this new format and made it come alive. My thanks to those of you who have already said, “Sure! I’ll lead a training.” And for those of you who will attend a training (and I hope you all attend at least one…you’ll get a project hour for doing so!) I guarantee it will be worth your time. Check the E&T schedule via our snazzy new E-News that pops into your Inbox every Wednesday or on the member calendar. Click on a register link and commit to learning something new this year.
But it won’t be singing…I’m retired. :)
