President’s Post: Walking Around the Chair?

At church last Sunday the pastor had a great analogy about service.

Imagine a chair representing those needing to be served—in JLCR’s case, teens in our community.
How often we are comfortable just walking around and around the chair (a life version of a cake walk)?  We so seldom take the time to actually sit down in the chair; let alone stay there for any length of time.

It is my hope (now that we have determined our Issue Area for the foreseeable future) that each of us is willing to sit down in the chair of those needing to be served.  Let’s not just say teenage development is our Issue Area … let’s sit down in the middle of it; maybe even get a sore behind from the time spent in the chair.  Let this defined Issue Area be a time of renewal for JCLR … and for you; for you to be dedicated to something bigger than yourself—something that isn’t going to be fixed in a year, or two, or even three.

Come … sit down with me.
