The concept of Junior League was formed over a century ago (1901) in New York by a group of concerned young women who offered assistance to slum residents. Today, the Association of Junior Leagues International encompasses more than 295 autonomous Junior Leagues with more than 193,000 members.
JLCR was founded as a service league in 1929. The group received its charter naming it Junior League of Cedar Rapids on Feb. 9, 1934. Currently we are a diverse group of 318 active and sustaining members.
2014 marks JLCR’s 80th year of influence in the Cedar Rapids area. Celebration plans are forthcoming.
