Junior League of Cedar Rapids, Inc. (JLCR) is a non-profit organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.
In Cedar Rapids, our League began in 1934. Since then, we have continued the Junior League legacy with hundreds of women, including many notable female community and professional leaders.
The JLCR impact in Cedar Rapids is undeniable. We started the Leadership for Five Seasons program, raised more than $1.6 million dollars for the Madge Phillips Center, launched Playtime Poppy, and more. For the last decade, we have focused our efforts to support young people aging out of foster care through Bridging the G.A.P. co
Throughout our decades of different projects, we remain committed to advancing women’s leadership in our community and beyond. Local and national training opportunities provide members with professional skills training and personal development opportunities for any stage of life.
Professional and personal skill opportunities include:
- Effectively planning and running a meeting
- Planning & hosting social and fundraising events
- Coordinating with community partners for events and donations
- Managing business operations
- Overseeing a more than $100,000 annual budget
- Creating marketing plans and materials
- Advocating for policy changes impacting our communities
