Once again, Titan International and Junior League of Cedar Rapids (JLCR) are delighted to bring the LPGA Futures Tour to the greater Cedar Rapids area. For the third year, the Ladies Titan Tire Challenge will be held in Marion, Iowa at Hunters Ridge Golf Course. May 31st – June 5th.

JLCR President, Karen Pelletier recently sat down with Karol Kelly for a Mediacom Newsleaders segment. In the interview, Karen talks about developing the potential of women in the community and our volunteer help for various women’s and children’s needs in the community.

JLCR is proud to welcome a brand new group of women into our organization. These ladies officially activated at our January general membership meeting, having spent the first portion of the year raising money for Four Oaks PHASE program and using a portion of the money to purchase Christmas presents for the teens.

Yesterday, JLCR held a community dialog at the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce to announce the new issue area we are taking on.
That issue is Teenage Development.
This defined issue allows us to make a greater impact in the community by zeroing in on a particular area that affects women and children in our community. It will be our defined issue area for several years to come.

Junior League of Cedar Rapids (JLCR) and the Cedar Rapids Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CRACVB) announced today that Ladies Titan Tire Challenge will return to Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion, IA for the third consecutive year. The tournament runs from May 31 to June 5, 2011. Titan Tire has returned as the title sponsor of the 54-hole tournament, providing the $110,000 purse.

JLCR was presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award by The Arc of East Central Iowa last night! We’re grateful for the award and are even more excited about having been able to work with all the wonderful people at the Arc this last year to rebuild the expressive arts studio after the flood.
